RIVER MANAGEMENT

  1. Interlocking Modular Erosion Control (MESCO®) for river bank stabilization as shown in Figure 1

ii. Biodegradable Mat (BIOMAT®) for river bank and canal protection as shown in Figure 2

iv. Modular Floating Rubbish Trap (MFRT) System for food, oil and gases trap in river and canal system as shown in Figure 4

       iv.Sabo Dam Construction

On 18 August 2021, heavy and wide-spreading rainfall was recorded in Northern region of Peninsular Malaysia (Perlis, Kedah, Penang and               Perak).

Unusual rainfall rates at the top of Gunung Jerai has caused river water to overflow in the area around the foot of the mountain. It eventually              causing the flash floods at Yan and Kuala Muda District. The event was believed due to the water head incidents in Gunung Jerai have caused           the human life risks, environment and properties damages

Thus, the construction of sabo dam is the essential method, which proposed to overcome the problem in the future.

       Functions of Sabo Dam:

  1. Trap the erosion / debris flow until the flow rate is reduced

  2. Slow down the flow of erosion/ debris

  3. As a place for the deposition of erosion/ debris / sediment settling

  4. Acts as a flow guide to prevent the spread of erosion/ debris flow
