Timah Tasoh dam project was one of the proposed water storage reservoir schemes in the State of Perlis, located on Sungai Korok about 2.5km below the confluence of Sungai Timah and Sungai Tasoh. It is approximately 17km north of Kangar en-route Kangar-Padang Besar Road.
The reservoir regulates the flows of Sungai Korok to provide dependable and adequate domestic/industrial water supply in addition to meeting the irrigation requirement. It was designed to irrigate 2466Ha of padi land for double cropping and to supply 7.8Mgd (0.41cumecs) for domestic and industrial use. As of 1992 the D&I deamnd was increased to 8 Mgd while the irrigation demad curtailed to 2372 ha.
Construction of the dam started in 1987 and substantially completed in June 1992. The lake created by the dam is about 1300ha at normal pool level of RL29.10m. Timah-Tasoh dam comprises a main dam, a saddle dam, a service spillway, an emergency spillway and the outlet works. In addition to the above, there is a small dyke about 500m long with a maximum height of 4m above natural ground located on the eastern periphery adjacent to the road embankment of the new Kangar-Padang Besar.
